Pete Peterson, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday morning, November 13, 2010 at his home at the age of 69 years.

The son of Elmer Peterson and Irene (Dunn) Peterson, Pete was born on February 27, 1941 in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.  He was reared and educated in Goodland, Kansas.  Pete worked most of his life in the oilfield as a heavy equipment operator.  He worked for Minnesota Limited as a foreman and following an automobile accident in 1997 that left him disabled he was forced to retire.

He was united in marriage to Tonya Holloway on May 25, 1985 in Wellington, KS and they moved to Cushing in 1989 from Greeley, CO.  He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, fishing with Clayton, sharing his chapstick with Deonna and his morning oatmeal with KiLea.

Survivors include his wife Tonya of the home; mother, Irene Peterson of Casper, WY; two daughters, Christy Stroot of Kingman, KS and Nicole Peterson of Cushing, OK; three grandchildren, Clayton, Deonna, and KiLea, all of Cushing, OK; two brothers, Paul Peterson and his wife Marsha of Yuma, CO and Rick Peterson of Casper, WY; five sisters, Et Shigley and her husband Bob of Carson City, NV, Bert Carr and her husband Keith of Goodland, KS, Vickey Holub and her husband Pete of Elizabeth, CO, Nona Carlson of Casper, WY, and Carol Witte of Casper, WY; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Peterson and one infant brother, Jerry Peterson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
