(Cushing, Okla) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a traffic accident has claimed the life of a Cushing man. Jody Ray Chesmore, 43, was taken to Cushing Regional Hospital where he was declared dead of injuries sustained in the accident about 8:25 AM 3.5 miles west of Cushing on SH 33.
The OHP report says Chesmore was riding a 1997 Harley Davidson Motorcycle westbound on SH 33 when he was struck by a 2002 Dodge Stratus driven by Andrea Dawnd Brigance, 19, of Ripley. The report says Brigance was eastbound and crossed the center line. Chesmore swerved to the right, and the vehicle driven by Brigance struck his motorcycle on the westbound shoulder.
According to the report, Chesmore was not wearing a helmet.
Brigance was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
