(Stillwater, Okla.) — Bail was increased Monday to $120,000 for a Cushing man who was on probation for methamphetamine possession when he was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute last week.

Michael James Pittman, 33, could receive as much as a life prison term if convicted of his latest methamphetamine charge investigated by the Payne County Sheriff’s Office.

In 2007 while he was living in Perkins, Pittman was charged with methamphetamine possession, driving with a suspended license and possessing drug paraphernalia, all on Yost Road and Highway 177 in a case investigated by Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Kitchel.

At the time of that arrest, Pittman was already on probation for drunk driving in Perkins in 2001, court records show.

The District Attorney’s Office is seeking to revoke the five-year probationary sentence he was given in 2008 for methamphetamine possession — due to his latest drug charge and also a report filed by Department of Corrections Community Sentencing Specialist Dee Miller.

Last year, one of Pittman’s relatives called that office and said “Mr. Pittman has continued to use drugs in the house around his minor children,” Miller alleged in her probation violation report dated June 30, 2009.

She alleged that the last time Pittman reported for supervision, he tested positive for methamphetamine and was ordered to attend additional outpatient substance abuse counseling sessions, according to her report.

Pittman was also more than $1,000 behind on his cost payments, Miller’s report alleged.
