(Stillwater, Okla) — A Cushing man who was charged with his wife with endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine at their home in the 1200 block of E. Greenlee has accepted a plea bargain for a five-year prison term.

Larry Wayne James, 30, who pleaded guilty Friday, remains jailed on $30,000 bail pending his sentencing on Aug. 20 before District Judge Donald Worthington.

James, who was already on probation for marijuana possession in 2007 in Payne County, has a plea agreement for a 15-year sentence — all suspended except five years in prison — a $500 fine, a $100 assessment to the victims’ compensation fund and a $50 contribution to the District Attorney’s Drug Fund.

His wife, Karri Danielle James, 30, who has three children, was jailed on $30,000 bail for six weeks until she was released on a personal recognizance bond after pleading guilty last month. She was ordered to return to court July 2 for sentencing before Worthington.

The couple’s residence was “in complete disorder and messy,” with a “strong urine smell and trash throughout the house,” Payne County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Nack wrote in an affidavit.

The deputy, along with Deputy Gregg Russell, had arrived at the couple’s home on March 26 to serve two outstanding warrants for Larry James, the affidavit said.

Karri James allowed the deputy to search the residence for illegal drugs and paraphernalia, the affidavit said.

A soda can, used as a smoking device, was found on the night stand in the master bedroom, the affidavit said.

Inside the night stand was a pill grinder with a white powdery residue, the affidavit said.

In the top of the bedroom closet were 32 syringes, one of which was used and field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the affidavit said.

Substances used to make methamphetamine were found in the closet, the kitchen, the only bathroom in the house, and a backyard shed, the affidavit said.

“All items in the shed were within reach and easily accessible to the children,” who range in age from 4 to 12, the affidavit said.

The couple’s 12-year-old son told Deputy Nack that his father makes a drug in the house, the affidavit said.
