(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Dec. 12, 2018 – Feeding America has awarded the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma a $10,000 Red Nose Day Child Hunger Grant. The grant will go to feed chronically hungry children in Oklahoma through the Food for Kids Programs.
In Oklahoma, one in four children do not have consistent access to food. The Regional Food Bank provided more than 2.3 million meals in the past school year to children living with hunger through its Food for Kids Programs: The Backpack Program, the School Pantry Program, Kids Cafes, School’s Out and Summer Feeding Program.
“Not having consistent access to food can cause anxiety and emotional problems for students,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “With this grant we are able to feed 100 chronically hungry children in one of our Food for Kids Programs for an entire year.”
Red Nose Day is dedicated to ending child poverty. Donations go to support child hunger programs through grants to all 200 food banks like the Regional Food Bank who are part of the Feeding America network.
