(Stillwater, Okla.) — A former Cushing woman has been placed on seven years’ probation with extensive conditions for embezzling $60,659.46 between Aug. 1, 2014, and June 10, 2016, while she was employed as the office manager for PC Steel Buildings at 801 S. Perkins Road in Stillwater.
Along with pleading guilty to embezzlement, Amanda Pearl Wynn, 40, of Perkins, admitted last week to forging a $2,750 check on the business’s account on June 15, 2016, and forging a $5,100 check on the business’s account on April 13, 2016.
As probation conditions imposed on Sept. 27, Wynn was ordered to continue individual counseling including for her gambling problems, pay the remaining restitution of $44,591 at $535 per month, undergo random drug testing, perform 50 hours of community service within 12 months, and pay $1,100 in assessments along with court costs.
Assistant District Attorney Jeremiah Gregory said that the original amount of restitution, including interest on loans that the business incurred, was $88,888, of which Wynn had paid half prior to her Sept. 27 sentencing by Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler in accordance with a plea agreement with the prosecution.
The embezzlement was reported to Stillwater Police Detective Richard Leport on June 23, 2016, by a co-owner of PC Steel Buildings where Wynn had been employed as office manager from Dec. 17, 2012, until June 21, 2016, an affidavit said.
A financial audit of the business found that 96 forged checks totaling $60,659.46 were made payable to Wynn, along with two forged checks totaling $7,850 made payable to Wynn’s relative, whose signature was also forged, the affidavit said.
