(Stillwater, Okla.) — This morning at 12:40 a.m., Stillwater Police
911 Communications received a call from a female stating her boyfriend had
hit her in the head with a hammer, Cpt. Kyle Gibbs said in a news release.
The caller did not know her address and was unable to provide her
location prior to the call being disconnected; 911 mapping indicated the
call originated from the area of Stonegate apartment complex at 1815 N.
Boomer Road in Stillwater, the news release said.
When the 911 operator tried calling back, the phone went straight to
voicemail, the news release said.
To make things even more difficult, the phone was a pre-paid cellular
phone, which limited the ability to get an exact location, the news release
said.     Using the phone number, the 911 operator was able to locate a name
associated with the phone, the news release said.
One of the responding officers was familiar with the victim’s name and
apartment, the news release said.
However, when officers went to that apartment, they discovered it was
vacant, the news release said.
After speaking with several people in surrounding apartments, officers
learned that the victim had recently moved to a different unit within the
complex, the news release said.
Using the information provided by neighbors, officers were able to
locate the 35-year-old female victim and her boyfriend, the news release
said.
The woman did have blunt force trauma to the back of her head, the news
release said.
She was transported to the Stillwater Medical Center, where she was
treated for a skull fracture and laceration before being released, the news
release said.
The boyfriend, Jesus Valdez Bravo, 47, of Stillwater, was arrested for
assault with a dangerous weapon and taken into custody at the scene, the
news release said.
