(Cushing) – The Cushing Lady Tigers on Saturday claimed the Regional Tournament Consolation final with a win over Piedmont Saturday. Cushing advances to the Area Tournament in Midwest City beginning Thursday.
In a low scoring defensive contest, Cushing led by only three points at half time, 12-9.
At the end of the game, the margin was still three points, 30-27.
Although Cushing led most of the game, Piedmont was able to take the lead briefly late in the game, giving the Wildcats hope of a second straight come from behind win. Piedmont defeated Cleveland the night before in a come from behind win that put them in the consolation final against Cushing.
But the lead was only momentary, as Cushing retook the lead for keeps, and held on for the 3 point win.
Cushing will play next in the Area Tournament in Midwest City Thursday at 1:30.
