(Stillwater, Okla.) – A Drumright man accused of attempting to elude Cushing police while allegedly driving a 2006 Dodge with an expired license tag on a suspended license on April Fool’s Day remained jailed Monday on $4,000 bail, a sheriff’s spokesman told KUSH.
    Tommy Leroy McClendon Jr., 22, could receive as much as a five-year prison term and a $5,000 fine if convicted of attempting to elude police in Cushing from Highland and North Streets to Harmony and Phillips Roads on April 1 – 10 days after he got out of the Payne County Jail.
    McClendon could be given as much as a one-year jail term and $1,000 in fines if convicted of driving on a suspended license a vehicle with expired tags, court records show.
    Just 10 days earlier, McClendon had been released from the Payne County Jail after being placed on seven years’ probation under a deferred sentence for possessing a stolen 2012 Dodge truck in Cushing on Jan. 4 — to which he pleaded guilty on Feb. 23, court records show.
    For that felony count, McClendon was ordered to pay $1,000 restitution and given a 90-day jail term with credit for time served. McClendon was also ordered to pay the cost of his incarceration for driving on a suspended license, show proof of employment or full-time student status, perform 40 hours of community service and pay a $200 fine.
    For violating his probation on an earlier misdemeanor charge of obstructing Cushing Police Officer Carson Watts on Aug. 7, 2017, by giving him a name other than his own when he had an outstanding arrest warrant, McClendon was given a concurrent 90-day jail term on Feb. 23, with credit for time served.
    For violating his probation on 2016 misdemeanor charges of passing a bogus check and petty larceny, on Feb. 23 McClendon was given two more concurrent 90-day jail terms with credit for time served, court records show.
