Test Time

“I am the Lord All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test.  Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house.  Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessings after blessings.”    Malachi 3:10

When we were students, many of us would cringe when the teacher announced a test.  Many of the children in Cushing prepare for a Friday spelling test.  We also experience the tests the doctor may want to do on our body.  There are the tests we take to improve our job skills, and there are times when life itself seems like a test we may not pass.

Does it seem that everyone else is on the giving end of the test and we are on the receiving end?  Is that fair?  To whom would you like to give a test?  The individual driving the car behind you or the person who has more than eight items in the express check-out line?    Have you ever thought of giving God a test?  Our scripture for today is the only one in the Bible where God tells us to test Him.

When we give to God, we must remember that the blessings God promises are not always material things.  They may not be experienced completely here on earth, but we will certainly receive them in our future life if we have committed our life to Him.

Everything we have is from God; so when we refuse to return to Him a part of what He has given, we rob Him.

Prayer for the day:  God, bless what I give to You for Your benefit and not mine.
