Elsa Isabelle Stevens age 81, a longtime Cushing resident passed away on January 11, 2010 at her home in Cushing. Funeral services will be held on 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing. Brother Fred Britton will officiate. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, OK.
Elsa was born on August 8, 1928 in Chandler, Oklahoma to the late Jasper and Lona Mabel (Evans) Earnest. She grew up in the Parkland and Agra area. Elsa attended Fairview school (outside of Agra). She married Harold Stevens on December 5, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas. They made their home in Cushing. To this union, eight children were born. Elsa loved taking care of their children. She was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and making quilts. Elsa loved traveling with her husband to Alaska, Canada and throughout the U.S.
Elsa is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harold Stevens of the home, sons Durward Stevens and wife Thelma of Bristow, Buddy Stevens and wife Carol of Stillwater, Sonja Billingsley and husband Marty of Cushing, Tawanna Partridge of Cushing, Sharron Smith and husband Bud of Cushing, Mona Lybarger of Dexter, Oregon, brother Troy Earnest and his wife Norma of Cushing, sister-in-law Carol Earnest of Perkins, brother-in-law Jack Jones of Oklahoma city, grandchildren Yavette Farris, Cory Smith, Robin Edwards, Kimberly Wright, Brittney Hinkle, Tracy Stevens, Delinda Rodgers, Christle Jones, Alicia Butler, Shannon Duvall, Shelle Goodman, Brad Billingsley, Richard Lybarger, Chad Lybarger, Evan Lybarger, Travis Royce, twenty five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Debbie Royce and infant daughter Alona Sue Stevens, one granddaughter Carrie Ann Stevens, one great granddaughter Torrie Denae Hinkle, sisters Eunice Greenfield, Theola Rodgers, Grace Earnest and Thresa Jones, brothers Buford Earnest and Elvis Earnest.
