June Woods, 66, of Rush Springs passed from this life on Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Chickasha following a lengthy illness.
June was born June 21, 1943, in Washita to L.T. and Oleta Harrison. She attended Elgin High School in Elgin. June married Wendell Woods in Ajo, Arizona on October 14, 1970.
She was a member of the Glory Bound Church in Marlow. June had been a respiratory therapist in Tulsa. Upon moving to Rush Springs in 1989 she worked at Fort Sill Army Hospital in Lawton. She later became an EMT for the Rush Springs Ambulance Service.
June was a special woman to all who knew here. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchild, especially the love of her life, Wendell Woods. June loved the Lord with all her heart and in the end, confirmed to her family that God had a special plan for her. She will be greatly missed.
June is survived by her husband Wendell of Rush Springs; a son, Jim Kent of Tulsa; a daughter, Cindy Wright and husband Darold of Tulsa; a daughter, LeaAnn Whaley and husband Donnie of Marlow; brother, J.C. Harrison and wife Esther of Cache; sister, Vangie and husband Herb Miller of Rush Springs; eight wonderful grandchildren and one very special great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vera Westbrook; brother, Tommy Harrison, and a baby sister, Oma.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010 in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.
