(Stillwater) — An ex-convict from Cushing who is on probation for hitting a man in the head with a metal bed frame was charged Tuesday with possessing a .22-caliber revolver in the front seat of his vehicle on Christmas Eve.

Clayton Dean Harrell, 22, was jailed on $5,000 bail on charges of possessing a firearm after a former felony conviction and driving under suspension in a case investigated by Cushing police.

Harrell was charged in 2007 with hitting a man in the head with a metal bed frame and breaking a car window, both in a driveway at a Cushing residence on S. Steele Street, court records show.

He pleaded guilty in 2008 to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious injury to property, for which he was given a one-year prison term followed by two years’ probation, court records show.

However, Harrell was only incarcerated in state prison for two months before he was released in November of 2008 to the suspended portion of his sentence, state Department of Corrections records show.

Harrell also is on probation for drug possession in Tulsa County in 2007, DOC records show.

If convicted of his latest felony charge in Payne County, Harrell could be sent to prison for 10 years, court records show.
