Mitchell Howard Williamson, age 87, passed away on December 15, 2009 at his home in Cushing.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing OK. and will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Indian Baptist Church in Cushing.

Interment will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Cushing.

The son of the late Edmond Williamson and Agnes (Morris) Williamson, Mitchell was born August 22, 1922 in Snow, OK.   He grew up in Snow and educated in GoodLand Indian Orphange School.  Mitchell entered the U. S. Army in Oct. 23, 1939 serving during WWII, in Company 109th Inf. 28th Division (Bloody Bucket Brigade).   He served at the Battle of the Buldge.   He was a Germany War Prisoner and liberated by Russians in April 1945.  He was a P.O.W. for five to six months, imprisoned at Stalag 4-B.  Mitchell was wounded in action.  He also received several metals, including the Purple Heart.   He was discharged on October 8, 1945.

He married Christine Barker on January 10, 1953 in Oklahoma City.  Mitchell began working for the State Highway Department and remained until his retirement in 1986.  He was a member of the Choctaw Tribe.  Mitchell was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the Sac and Fox Veterans Guard and the Choctaw Veterans Guard.  Mitchell had attended the Indian Baptist Church.  Mitchell enjoyed fishing and farming.  His greatest joy was taking care of his family. 

Survivors include his wife Christine of the home, three sons Richard Williamson, Josh Williamson and Robert Williamson all of Cushing. Adopted daughters Ramona Sanache, Georgia Sanache, Georgette Sanache and Geralayn Sanache all of Tama, Iowa, brother Jonas Watson of  Mid-West  City, OK and sister Janie Watson of Snow, grandchildren Joshua Williamson, Stevie Williamson, Mason Williamson, Christine Williamson, Marshall Williamson, Newman “Pooh” Williamson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
