George William Dennis, a longtime Yale resident, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009, in Tulsa. Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale and will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Church of God in Yale with Pastor Mike Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery.
The son of Everett William Dennis and Zella Mae (Kizer) Dennis, George was born on August 29, 1939 in Yale, Oklahoma. He grew up around Yale graduating from Yale High School. In his spare time he enjoyed going to auctions, hunting, and fishing. George worked for Mercury Marine in Stillwater, retiring in May of 1994.
He married Mamie Lewis in 1969 and into this marriage she brought three children, Steve, Kathy, and Clarissia. Born to them were two children whom died at birth. George is survived by sisters Alice Mitchell, Martha Petitt, and Jan Petitt, all of Yale; son Steve Lewis and his wife Janna of Yale; daughter Kathy Glasby of Perkins, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife Mamie, an infant daughter, an infant son, and one daughter, Clarissia.
