Lily “Ladema” Todd passed from this life on May 16, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her children.
Ladema was born to Claud and Eileen Todd June 11, 1943 on a farm four miles south of Ripley, Oklahoma. She started her education at Free Silver School and graduated from Ripley High School in 1961; then receiving her veterinary technician certificate from Central Vocational Technical school in Drumright. She started her working career at the Aggie Theater in Stillwater, subsequently moving on to; Dr. Grady’s O.D. s office, Perkins Y Livestock Auction, Robertson Automotive, and Suddenlink Cable from which she retired in 2006.
She enjoyed working part time at Red’s Deli. She catered many special events, concerts and banquets; meeting Garth Brooks, Clint Black and Ricky Van Shelton, to name a few. She was a member of the Perkins Round Up Club for many years, acting as secretary and overseeing the rodeo concession stand.
She was a very artistic person, with many hobbies including; leatherwork, saddle making, cooking, sewing, gourd carving and decorating –taking home a 1st place at the county fair for one of her beautiful gourds. Ladema loved animals- raising horses, cattle and Akita’s, also taking in strays of all kinds. She took pride in creating the plans for her dream log home. Personally designing and rocking her interior fireplace with rocks collected by her parents over the years. Once her dream home was completed, she worked on landscaping and manicuring the lawn around the home, adding something new to her many flower beds each year.
More than anything else she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, feeling they were her greatest accomplishments in life. She was truly a kind hearted, selfless person that will be missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her children Lori (Lowe) Nicholson and husband David of Crawfordville, Florida, Lonny Lowe and girlfriend Rebecca Cooper of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Lane Durnal and wife Jenny of Perkins, Oklahoma; grandchildren Tia Nicholson, Aliza Lowe, Grace Durnal, Kyle Durnal, and Josie Durnal. One sister, Sherry Clemens and husband Jerry of Ripley, Oklahoma, and sister- in-law Carolyn Todd of Piedmont, Oklahoma; nieces Tammy Ailey, Lori Somers, and Amy Brown; nephews Duane Chesmore, Doug Todd, Donny Todd, Shawn Koelsch, Barry Ball, Brian Ball; several great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lodene Chesmore- Ball, brother Ronald Todd and brother- in-law Jim Chesmore.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 11, 2017 at Progress Community Building, located at 12803 S Cottonwood Road, Perkins Oklahoma. Come and go from 1 -4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s can be made in her honor.
