Tiger Time on a Fun Friday
CHS senior Keisha Moline and CHS junior Koy Ramsey visited with the KUSH Girls during Tiger Time on Friday, Oct. 9th. Keisha is on the CHS cheer squad and works in the office while finishing up her studies at CHS and Koy is a member of FFA and attends half a day at Central Tech in Drumright. Keisha and Koy took turns in delivering the news. Here’s what they had to say:
Fall break will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the week of Oct. 12th. Cushing Public Schools are hosting parent-teacher conferences from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13th at all schools and again from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14th. Please call your child’s school in advance to schedule appointments with teachers.
Homecoming is this Thursday, Oct. 15th, against the Cleveland Tigers. Monday is dress as Cowboys and Indians and Tuesday is wear your homecoming T-Shirt day. Tuesday evening – after the sun goes down – there will be a bonfire by the pond at the high school.
High school students who have taken Algebra II and have As and Bs in English and Math are encouraged to sign up for the PSAT. It is the only way to tneter the National Merit Scholarship Contest, it enables students to become eligible for other scholarships and it helps with practice for other standardized tests. Cost is $13. The test will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14th from 8 a.m. until noon.
The National Honor Society is selling candy until Monday, Oct. 19th. See any NHS student to make a purchase and help their fundraising efforts.
The band hosted their annual marching competition on Oct. 8th. Due to the rain, the competition was moved indoors to the field house. According to band instructor Danny White, the competition was a huge success. It was the first indoor competition White could recall.
The following students recently were named Athletes of the Week: Seniors – DJ McKinney and Keisha Moline and Sophomores – Marcie Wiley and Blake Murray.
CHS hosted their annual college fair for surrounding schools. Between 400 and 500 students from Olive, Ripley, Yale, Oilton, Drumright and Cushing attended the event. Students had the opportunity to visit with representatives from schools and organizations such as the Oklahoma Student Loan Authority, the Oklahoma School of Science and Math, Oklahoma State University and the Armed Services.
