Four years ago Jerry Jackson found a new love – the banjo.
Jackson will be sharing his love of the banjo on Saturday, Oct. 10th as he performs at this year’s Festival in the Park.
Jackson grew up around music. “My father played the fiddle in his own country band in the 30s through the 50s,” Jackson said. In fact, he began playing the guitar at the age of 6 and performed in shows with his father numerous times.
While Jackson still enjoys playing the guitar, singing and performing for church groups and in theatres around the state – including Cushing Community Theatre – the banjo has become his latest love.
“It is my love now,” he confessed and perfect for Bluegrass – another love of Jackson’s.
Jackson was born in Atoka, OK but grew up in Bristow. In 2006, he retired after serving 30 years as an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman. He and his wife currently live in Edmond. They have two grown children and one granddaughter.
Jackson will take the stage of the amphitheater at approximately 3:30 p.m.
