Police will be conducting simulated use-of-force training tomorrow morning at the high school.

Monday, (Sept. 14th) morning, Cushing police officers will be conducting simulated use-of-force training at the Cushing High School. Training will take place throughout the day inside of the cheerleading practice facility at the field house beginning at 7:00 a.m. It is anticipated that the training will conclude by 4:00 p.m.

NO STUDENTS WILL BE INVOLVED NOR WILL ANY OF THE TRAINING OCCUR OUTSIDE OF THE CHEERLEADING PRACTICE FACILITY! IN ADDITION, SIMULATED WEAPONS WILL BE USED THAT ARE COMPUTER BASED! NO LIVE WEAPONS OR AMMUNITION WILL BE USED!

Cushing officers will be introduced to the MILO Use-Of-Force Simulator Training System. During the training, our officers will be challenged with various use-of-force scenarios that will require them to make split second decisions as to whether or not force is required to resolve a situation.

Chief Terry Brannon said, “Without question, use-of-force decisions are some of the most challenging occurrences in the life of a police officer. Decisions that are made in a split second can have a lasting impact on a police officer professional and personally, so I want to do all that I can to better our officer’s ability to make solid decisions based on training and the law.”
