Estelle N Purcell, age 93 of Yale, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Stillwater. Funeral
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2009 at the First
Baptist Church, Yale. Brother Mich Dershem will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale. Serving as casketbearers will be Lon Purcell, Troy Purcell, Lance Purcell, Neletbson Purcell, Larry Purcell and Stephen Elliott. Honorary casketbearers will be Steve Elliott, Billy Bob Heilmann, Dineo Heilmann and Todd Heilmann.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale.
Estelle was born on November 14, 1915 in Mehan, OK. to the late Frank and Sylvia (Kidder) Heilmann. She grew up in Quay, her father worked in the oilfield and they lived in various places before she started school in Quay. She attended Quay schools and was Valedictorian of her graduating class in 1934. She was to shy to recite her speech, so she ask her friend to read her speech. Estelle married Nelson Purcell, who preceded her in death. Estelle worked at Betty’s Fashions in Yale for a few years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yale. Estelle was the best cook in the country, specializing in her famous “Apple Pies”. She enjoyed painting, reading and sewing. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and also worked on the Election Board. She had a dry wit with a great sense of humor. Estelle will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Estelle is survived by daughter Susie Purcell of Stillwater, sons Jack Purcell and wife Sandra of Woodward and Roy Purcell of Yale, brother Bill Heilmann and wife Pat of Yale, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brother Virgil Heilmann and daughter-in-law Billie Sue Purcell.
