Members of American Legion Post 108 welcomed a special guest to their regular Monday night meeting.  Division-West Commander, Roy Clingenpeel was presented a check in the amount of $2,000 to go toward an expansion project at the American Legion Children’s Home in Ponca City.

The donor is a lifetime member of American Legion Post 108 but according to Post Commander Jim Hunter, he did not want to be identified.

The American Legion Children’s Home has been in existence for 80 years and is in the process of building a new dormitory to accommodate more children of veterans.  It is one of only a few such homes in the United States and the only one in Oklahoma.

“The American Legion Children’s Home has taught Americanism from the very beginning,” Clingenpeel said.

And with the help of veterans such as the ones at American Legion Post 108, it will continue.
