Week 12: Kris Kinzie Our Very Own Local Owner/Operator of Steer Inn Family Restaurant. If this does not make you hungry, NOTHING will!

Mr. Kris Kinzie was our guest this week on the Business Spotlight show. Once again it was hard to end the show…since we were not exactly finished talking with him! The Steer Inn Restaurant has it going on! Nearly every night of the week they have something special.

Four generations of Kinzies have been serving delicious food for over 50 years. Kris talked of meager beginnings, working on the dairy farm and growing up in Cushing. Mr. Kelly could not help reminiscing about his employment with the Kinzies and they were doing quite a bit of name-dropping from the olden days. We learned about how the restaurant business has changed and developed over the years to keep up with the times. We enjoyed remembering the old-fashioned atmosphere of the restaurant with the phone at your tables and the car hops. The Kinzies pride themselves on the fact that their food is made from scratch, their three locations and catering to the enjoyment of family dining.

He said,”You will be treated like kings and queens” at the Steer Inn….

Yeah! Right up my alley!

Kris also spoke very fondly of his nephew Jason Kinzie and other relatives that have gone to culinary school and been very much an asset to the family business.

Kris is a longtime Rotary member, chamber member, and huge supporter of out Cushing community. Oh! And avid ex-golfer and tennis player. Spending time with the family has taken precedent over the two.

The Steer Inn has three locations. The Steer Inn is open 7 DAYS A WEEK! The Steer Inn has catering. Most of us have experienced their catering culinary expertise at one local function or another. The annual chamber banquet for instance. Kris got a kick out of my being fooled at what I thought was prime rib…it was excellent roast beef.

You really must check out their website – www.steerinnrestaurant.com .

You can order online and then have them bring it right to your doorstep. There are so many new food items on their menu that a lot of us may not be aware of. Fried green beans, Citrus Salmon, Specialty Steaks, BBQ Ribs and Pulled pork to mention a few. The menu is so impressive and extensive, that I just printed it out for future reference… because I am getting hungrier by the minute.

The little cattle skull on their menu indicates iconic favorites such as “The THING,” Rib Eyes, Chicken Fried Steak, their salad bar, and buffets and their delicious homemade pies and deserts. I did not realize that they still had a drive-through. On Tuesday night, which is family Night, if you decide to book a party with your kids, the clown is free because Jo Jo the clown is there every Tues Night. DO NOT forget about all-u-can eat seafood on Saturday Night. Crab legs, frog legs, shrimp catfish… See you there!

Yeah, I will say it again. The Steer Inn has it going on!

And if you’re reading this Mr. Kinzie, I just have one question for you…….Buttermilk? You used to have it…in the olden days, and I was just wondering if I could have it with my Frog Legs Saturday Night?
