Week 11: AGAPE
Just in case anyone is reading this, I have to say…I am falling more in love with this town with each interview…we have got it going on!!!!!
Mrs. Joyce Lowe was in the house of KUSH in the Business Spotlight. Joyce is a licensed professional counselor who has been the owner and operator of Agape Counseling Center since 2000. Agape is the Greek word for unconditional love, and I believe Joyce has plenty of it. Agape Counseling Center now is affiliated with Tulsa’s Dayspring Behavioral Health Services. Joyce brought along Mrs. Jamie Whitmer from Dayspring to help answer our questions.
Joyce grew up in Dallas and received her bachelor’s degree at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and her master’s degree in counseling at Texas A & M. She met her husband Edwin at church in Cushing. They have been married almost 7 years. Cori & T.J., his two cats, came as a packaged deal. In her spare time, Joyce enjoys crocheting, gardening, and old movies.
Agape Counseling Center is a Christian-based service that offers a wide variety of services. Agapes licensed professionals have 25 combined years of experience in mental health counseling. Agape specializes in abuse, family violence, marital & pre-marital counseling and childhood behavioral concerns. Group and family therapy, as well as marriage seminars are available as well. They also provide drug and alcohol assessments. Joyce did mention that along with Medicare and most insurance, they could also charge on a sliding scale according to your income and offer private payment plans.
Agape Counseling Center now has brand new offices and their center is located at 114 E. Broadway, across from the Cushing Community Theatre. They have a new observation room with two-way mirrors.
Their new building has additional space for lease that is approximately 2200 square feet and gorgeous! It would be perfect for offices or a radio station. Alternatively, just to live in. If anyone out there has a chance to view this property, it is really something to see. I think it is historical but not quite sure. So please let Joyce know if you have any information about the history of the building. You can contact her at Agape Counseling Center at (918)225-1225.
One more thing, Joyce is the only professional in the State of Oklahoma that has been trained in multiple personalities. The show was veeery interesting and I enjoyed the girls immensely.
Thank you, Joyce and Jamie for letting us get to know you and once again learn about another great business at our disposal!
