(Boulder, CO) – The Oklahoma State Cowboys spoiled one homecoming, and made the most of another Saturday night in Boulder. Homecoming for the Colorado Buffaloes was less than hoped for by those who made the trip to Boulder, but for Zac Robinson, a former standout prep player in Littleton, Colorado, it was a triumphant return home.
Although the Cowboys were held below season averages statistically by the the Buffs, a workmanlike performance gave the Cowboys a 30-17 win for their ninth victory of the season.
Robinson threw for 217 yards and one touchdown and ran for another, Kendall Hunter ran for 102 yards and a touchdown and Dez Bryant made another highlight reel catch in the win. It was Robinson’s first game in his home state since signing to play for the Cowboys. It was also Bryant’s first TD catch away from Boone Pickens Stadium this season.
OSU started slowly, settling for field goals by Dan Bailey on two fisrt quarter drives. The acrobatic catch by Bryant with 7:20 left in the second quarter gave the Pokes a 13-3 halftime lead that was extended in the third quarter on a 43 yard touchdown run by Kendall Hunter.
The Buffs kept it interesting with a deflected touchdown catch by receiver Scotty McKnight who caught the pass intended for another receiver and fell into the end zone.
The Cowboys went up 27-10 on a 12 yard run by Robinson with 54 seconds left in the third quarter, while Colorado was able to add a touchdown on a five play drive that started at the OSU 16 after an interception thrown by Robinson. A Dan Bailey field goal added a bit of insurance with about four and half minutes left, and The Buffs were not able to mount another threat.
The Cowboys will have 2 weeks off before returning to action on November 29th against Oklahoma in the final regular season game.
