Chandler put another win down for the season making the lions undefeated thus far with
4-0, but Friday’s victory over Henryetta wasn’t as shiny as last week’s win over Clinton.
The lions looked great in the first quarter scoring on their first drive defensively forcing Henryetta to a three and out drive directly after kicking the ball to the knights, but the momentum changed hands frequently between the two teams throughout the rest of the game.
The final score was 34-12 Chandler, but they had to fight for it.
Major blows for the lions included mental mistakes as the offensive line jumped off-sides three times in the second half, and in the third quarter, Jack Gray, starting quarterback, threw a 7 yard interception. While backed up to the 10 yard line, the ball was picked off by the Henryetta defensive end and the knights scored before going into the fourth.
Henryetta was only able to get in the in zone one more time in the fourth but was in the red zone at least three times. If it wasn’t for the Chandler defense stopping the Knights in the fourth enough for the offense to regain control, the final outcome could have been fatal for the Lions.
