(Bristow)– The Bristow tournament was not a friendly place for Tiger Basketball over the weekend, with both the Boys and Girls teams losing 2 of 3 in the three day tournament. Cushing Girls did get their second win of the season over U.S. Grant on Friday, a 38-34 decision. That consolation bracket win set up the fifth place game between the hometown Lady Pirates and Cushing, with Bristow winning 38 to 27.
The Lady Tigers lost their opening round game against Skiatook 55-41.
The Tiger Boys got an opening round win over the Pawnnee JV team, 75-35, which sent them on to the semi-finals against Tulsa Metro Christian. Cushing lost a late lead in that game and fell 40-37, missing what would have been a game tying three pointer just before time expired. The loss put the Tigers in the 3rd place game against another Tulsa team, the Edison Eagles. Again, Cushing lost a late lead to the Eagles to fall 49-42.
Both Cushing teams play Tuesday at Okmulgee.
