(Cushing)– With the National Weather Service forecasting a possible ice storm, area schools and electric providers are urging people to pay close attention to the weather. Late Friday, Oklahoma State University issued a statement urging students, faculty and staff to monitor the situation closely.
” Due to finals next week, students are encouraged to stay in Stillwater over the weekend, and if students must leave town, they should monitor the weather throughout the weekend and return to campus early enough to avoid inclement weather.
Because of the full schedule of final exams starting Monday morning, it is highly unlikely finals will be postponed. If they are postponed or if students miss an exam due to the weather, a block of time is set aside Friday for make-up exams.”
Central Rural Electric Cooperative was preparing for the possible storm and issued a statement to that effect on Friday. Communications Specialist Larry Mattox said “Central Rural Electric Cooperative works around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to restore power to customers affected by an outage. If you are a CREC customer you can call 405-372-2884 or 800-375-2884 to report an outage.”
KUSH will continue to monitor the weather and will air the latest developments and information as conditions warrant.
In the event of school closings, KUSH will air the latest information on Monday morning beginning at 6:00 AM, and will also keep an updated list of closing on www.1600kush.com. Check back often for the latest informaton.
