William “Buddy” E. Cearley, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the age of 67 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in the Cushing/Drumright Elks Lodge with Pastor Sonny Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
The son of the late William H. Cearley and Viola (Kidd) Cearley, Buddy was born on February 3, 1944 in Bristow, OK. He was reared and educated in Bristow, Tahlequah, and Drumright, graduating from Drumright High School. Buddy was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1968 he returned to Bristow.
Buddy was united in marriage to Frankie Lee Valonie on February 10. They moved to Cushing in 1974 while Buddy was employed with Allied Materials Truck Division. He then began working for Texaco Pipeline where he was a pipeliner, welder, driver, and a mechanic. He later worked for Ker McGee in Drumright before retiring in 1998 following his stroke.
In his spare time Buddy loved to fish, ride horses, and hunt. He especially loved his trips to Illinois with his great friends, Kent, Mark, David, Steve, and John to go Pheasant hunting. Buddy had been a member of the Cushing/Drumright Elks Lodge #2712 for over 30 years and following his stroke he loved to take care of doing the mowing at the lodge. His family will remember him great sense of humor and being a man that could fix anything you put in front of him.
Survivors include his wife Frankie of the home; two daughters, Lisa Burton of Cookson, OK and Kathy Hope and her husband Jeff of Ripley; one brother, Kevin Cearley and his wife Brooke of Cushing; two sisters, Sherri Whitehead and her husband Mark of Drumright and Kay Jones and her husband Jack of Drumright; step-mom, Annette Cearley of Cushing; brother-in-law, Ronnie Elsheimer; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by one sister, Melba Elsheimer.
