Cushing Lions Club announced the winners of the 2009 Peace Poster Contest at their regular Tuesday meeting.
Club members voted for their favorites late last year which proved to be a tough choice considering the number of great entries.
Tom Cummings thanked Cushing Middle School art teacher Betty Bowen for her help in getting the word out to students. Bowen accompanied the winners to Tuesday’s meeting.
First Place Winner was Chloe Tate, Second Place went to Kaitlyn Barker and Third Place to Shelbi Toops. Cummings congratulated the winners and presented each with a trophy. Monetary prizes were awarded prior to Christmas, “In case they wanted to use it to buy gifts,” Cummings said.
Cummings also informed them that Chloe’s artwork has been selected to move on from the local and district levels to the Oklahoma State Peace Poster competition.
