Cushing Lions Club members enjoyed an interesting program Tuesday from Suzette Barta, PhD., Payne County Extension Educator.

Ms. Barta told the group about the many and varied services for home-based businesses that the Payne County Extension Office provides the public.  In fact, she has planned ‘what it takes’ to have a small or home-based business in a one-stop location.

The extension office’s MICRO BUSINESS RESOURCE FAIR AND CONFERENCE will be held October 22, 2009, 9-3 p.m. Payne County Expo Center in Stillwater (Hwy 51 at Fair Grounds Road).  Steve Irby of Stillwater Designs (KICKER) will be the opening speaker.  Concurrent sessions will also be offered throughout the morning and early afternoon.

The luncheon speaker will be Dr. Brian Whitacre of Oklahoma State University, who will talk about “Doing Business on the Internet.”

Other session topics include: Marketing Basics for Small Business, Small Business Financing Options, Planning for Retirement, Doing Business Globally, Small Business Management and more. The Oklahoma Tax Commission will have a booth and will also do a break-out session to answer your tax questions on a home-based or small business endeavor.

Registration for the conference is only $15, which includes lunch sponsored by the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. To register, call Suzette Barta at the Payne County Extension Office at 405-747-8320.
