Rito Vasquez, age 77 of Cushing, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Cushing Regional Hospital, Cushing.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cushing.  Reverend Matthew G. LaChance will officiate.  Interment will follow at St. Leo Cemetery, Cushing.

Rito was born on February 1, 1934 in San Jose De Aura Cohuila, Mexico to the late Juan and Julia (Trevino) Vasquez.  He grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1963.  Rito married Erminia Villanueba on August 15, 1966 in Pasco, Washington, to this union four children were born.  They lived in various states before settling in Cushing in 1984.  He worked for Cushing Rail Car and later Retherford Construction, retiring in 1997.  They attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Rito enjoyed gardening, raising plants and fishing.  He was a loving babysitter, cross guard and cheerleader for his precious grandchildren.  Rito loved family gatherings where all the children and grandchildren got together and enjoyed one another. 

 

Rito is survived by his wife Erminia Vasquez, sons Rito Vasquez Jr. and wife Angela of Ft. Worth, Tx., Jose Vasquez and wife Laura of Cushing, Juan Vasquez and wife Becky of Cushing, daughter Raquel Short and husband Kevin of Sapulpa, brothers Jesus Vasquez and Armando Vasquez, sister Josefina Gonzales all of Mexico, grandchildren Josh Salinas, Ryan Salinas, Julia Short, Nicolas Vasquez, Tori Ingraham, Kayla Vasquez, Jonathan Vasquez, Lucas Vasquez, Jackson Vasquez and Eva Rose Short and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Rito was preceded in death by his parents, sister Maria Elena, brothers Juan Vasquez, Ishamel Vasquez and Fidencio Vasquez.
