DUE TO THE RECENT WINTER WEATHER THAT PAYNE COUNTY CITIZENS SHERIFF NOEL BAGWELL WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE CITIZENS OF PAYNE COUNTY TO CHECK ON THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

SEVERAL COMMUNTIES AND RURAL AREAS HAVE BEEN SEVERELY HIT WITH THE ICE STORMS AND HELP HAS ARRIVED IN THOSE COMMUNTIES WITH WORK TO REPAIR DAMAGE BEGINNING.

SHERIFF BAGWELL WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE CITIZENS THAT CITIZENS COULD HAVE DAMAGE TO THEIR HOMES AND PROPERTY.

THERE ARE MANY GOOD REPUTABLE COMPANIES AND PEOPLE WISHING TO PROVIDE SERVICES LEGITIMATELY IN THE PAYNE COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS, HOWEVER THERE ARE PERSONS WHO WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION.

SHERIFF BAGWELL REMINDS CITIZENS WHEN HIRING A COMPANY OR PERSON TO DO CLEAN UP OR REPAIR WORK FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD ASK SOME OF THESE QUESTIONS:

1. WHEN GIVEN A PRICE FOR THE WORK, WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO FOR THAT PRICE AND ASK THEM GIVE IT TO YOU IN WRITING

2. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET THE WORK DONE

3. WHO ARE THE PEOPLE, WHERE ARE THEY FROM – VERIFY

WHO THEY ARE BY LOOKING AT A DRIVERS LICENSE OR

SOME SORT OF IDENTIFICATION OTHER THAN A BUSINESS

CARD OBTAIN A TAG NUMBER IF POSSIBLE

4. ARE THEY INSURED AND BONDED

5. DO NOT PAY MONEY UP FRONT FOR GAS, OIL, TOOLS, OR TO BE PUT ON A LIST PRIOR TO THE WORK

6. OBTAIN REFERENCES ON PAST JOBS

7. PAY FOR MATERIAL USED ON YOUR JOB NOT TOOLS TO DO THE JOB.
