Maggie Lou Bradshaw died early Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Cushing Regional Hospital. She was 98.
Her Service will be Wednesday, Nov. 23rd at 1:30 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sonja Tobey will officiate. Burial at the Wellston Cemetery.
Maggie Lou was born February 19, 1913 in Addington, Oklahoma, an only child to John Allen and Cora Kennemer Barnard. She was schooled in Wellston, Ok. active in sports as she played tennis and on the girls basketball team. She married Ralph Marion Bradshaw of Wellston on July 9, 1930. They were married 47 years and had two daughters and two sons.
Maggie Lou was a beautician, owning her shop in Wellston and later when family moved to Cushing in 1945, working for Jaunita’s Beauty Shop for many years. She had a large garden every year, keeping family freezers full and sharing with friends. Loved to work in the yard and with flowers. One year received “Yard of the Month” award. Played on the Senior Citizens Bowling team for many years, quitting at age 91, and winning several awards. Enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Painted many ceramics at the Cushing Senior Citizen Center. Active in the Builders Sunday School class at the First United Methodist Church as well as United Methodist Women.
In 2010, Maggie Lou was presented a recognition for being a 60 year member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Peery and husband Jack of Victoria, Tx; Marilyn Duff of Cushing; sons Gary Bradshaw of Cushing and Rick Bradshaw and wife Freda Sue of Edmond; grandchildren Brenda Peery Fradd and husband Gary of Reno, NV; Brian Peery and wife Angela of Austin, Tx; Wm. Brad Bell of Spring, Tx; Robert Bell of Jenks, Ok; Mike Duff and wife Brooke of Dallas, Tx; Randy Bradshaw and wife Kim of Wylie, Tx; Jill Bradshaw Perry and husband Jason of Edmond; and Ryan Bradshaw and wife Chelsea of Edmond.
Great-Grandchildren are Mark, Eric and Marisa Bell; Dustin and his wife Kelley, Brandon and Caisha Bell; Heyden Peery and Meagan Peery Evans and her husband Jason; Monica Tompkins and her husband Shane, Mandy Stolte; Madi, Gavin and Tyler Bradshaw. There are six great-great Grandchildren: Nathan, Kelsey, Ella Nora, Addie, Floyd and Bella Rae.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and a son-in-law, Don Duff in 2005.
Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in Maggie Lou’s memory may be made to First United Methodist Church or Cushing Regional Hospital Foundation.
