Virginia “Ginny” Lee Meyers, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2009 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2009 in the Oak Street Baptist Church in Cushing with Pastor Dewey Stanford officiating. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.

The daughter of the late Ulysses Taylor and Mary (Wickline) Taylor, Ginny was born on June 7, 1933 in Iroquois, West Virginia. She was reared and educated in West Virginia. She was united in marriage to Waldo Combs in West Virginia before moving to Oklahoma where he preceded her in death. She later married Bobby Meyers on March 8, 1979 in Cushing.

Many will remember Ginny as a beautician, owning her own beauty shop (Ginny’s). She later moved it to her home where she continued working. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her flower garden, being outside, watching and feeding birds (especially her parrots and parakeets), but most of all, Ginny loved playing her organ and traveling to Branson.

Survivors include her husband Bob of the home; three sons, Chuck Combs and his wife Linda of Denton, TX, Robert Meyers and his wife Diana of Cushing, and Ronald Meyers and his wife Mary of Lake Villa, IL; three brothers, Simpson Grant, Franklin Delano, and Danny; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth, Shirley Ann, and Ruth Danese; six grandchildren, Cindy, Robin, Jacob, Marcie, Crystal, and Alisha; three great-grandchildren, Grant, Morgan, and Ivan; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Waldo Combs and four brothers, William Ransom Taylor, Charles Jackson Taylor, Waldern Thomas Taylor, and Grover Robert Taylor.
