Florene Neal, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Thursday evening, August 16, 2012, at the age of 88 years.
The daughter of the late Charles Edward Fowler and Grace Stephens Fowler, Florene was born on November 13, 1923 in Kiefer, OK and was raised and educated in Ripley, graduating from Ripley High School with the class of 1941.
She was united in marriage to Jack E. Neal on October 13, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA and to this union two children, William Charles “Bill” and Lora were born. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1985.
She had worked as a nurse’s aid for many years at the Cushing Hospital prior to her retirement.
Florene was a member of the Church of God Church. She enjoyed singing and for many years sang along with her sisters in many different churches and conventions.
Survivors include one daughter Lora Bailey of Cushing; two granddaughters, Erin Niccum of Sapulpa and Andrea Lauderdale of Cushing; two great-grandchildren Seth and Bryleigh Lauderdale; a brother-in-law Kenneth Boyle of Ripley; a sister-in-law Uvean Fowler of CA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, William Charles “Bill” Neal; one grandson Bryan Cole Niccum; one brother Gene Fowler and three sisters, Glenna Cordell, Thelma Fowler and Lorene Boyle.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
