(Stillwater, Okla.) — An ex-convict who got out of prison four months ago was charged Tuesday with attempting to manufacture methamphetamine at a house in the 400 block of North Luella Street in Cushing on Friday.
John Thomas Davis, 30, of Cushing, who previously lived in Drumright, remains in the Payne County Jail on $50,000 bail. He is also being held for Georgia authorities, court records show.
Davis, who is also charged with possessing methamphetamine at the house on Luella Street and possessing syringes, spoons with drug residue and digital scales, could be given a life prison term plus 11 years if convicted of all three counts filed Tuesday.
The case was investigated by the Payne County Sheriff’s Office and the Cushing Police Department, court records show.
Davis was convicted in 2004 in Coweta County, Georgia, of the manufacture and sale of methamphetamine, for which he was given a five-year sentence, court records show.
Davis was convicted in 2009 in the Drumright division of Creek County, Oklahoma, of assault and battery on a police officer, for which he was given a two-year prison term to be followed by seven years of probation.
However, he only served seven months for that offense, state Department of Corrections records show.
Davis was also convicted in 2009 of bail jumping in the Drumright division of Creek County, Oklahoma, for which he was given a consecutive one-year prison term, of which he served about four and one-half months before he was released in January, DOC records show.
