(Cushing, Okla.) Mayor Evert Rossiter presented a proclamation at City Hall on Friday, May 20, 2011 to co-chairs of this year’s BBQ & Blues, Larry Brewer and Toni Vieyral. The proclamation declares May 30 – June 4, 2011 to be “Pipeline Appreciation Week” in Cushing.
The proclamation reads: “Whereas, the City of Cushing is proud to be recognized as the ‘Pipeline Crossroads of the World’, and
Whereas, many pipeline companies have storage, terminalling, and trucking operations in or near the City of Cushing; and
Whereas, several of the local Pipeline Companies, and the Cushing Chamber of Commerce and Industry have sponsored the Bar-B-Q ‘N Blues Festival since 1997; and
Whereas, the Cushing Chamber of Commerce and the Cushing Industrial Authority sponsor a ‘Pipeline Appreciation Golf Tournament’ in conjunction with the Festival; and
Whereas, many pipeline employees and chamber volunteers have devoted a great number of hours working to ensure the success of these two events; and
Whereas, the impact of these two events will be very positive for the City of Cushing as economic development and for tourism and public relations.
Now, therefore, I Evert Rossiter, Chairman of the Board of commissioners of the City of Cushing do hereby proclaim May 30 through June 4, 2011 as ‘PIPELINE APPRECIATION WEEK’ in the City of Cushing and do hereby call upon the citizens of Cushing and the Cimarron Valley area to join with us in celebrating this week, and show our appreciation for the pipeline companies by attending the Bar-B-Q ‘N blues Festival on June 4, 2011.
