Beverly “Granny” Dennis, 74, of Cleveland, formerly of Yale, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 in Tulsa, OK.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale, OK and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in the First Baptist Church, Yale, OK with Rev. David Head officiating. Burial will follow in the Underwood Cemetery, Yale, OK.
Granny was born on August 7, 1936 in Oklahoma City to James Raymond and Flossie Viola (Berry) Orr. She was then brought to Ingalls where she lived until she was 7 years old, she then moved to Yale on Southern Hill with her mother and grandparents. At the age of 16, she met and married Marion Wheeler in Stillwater. She became a widow at the age of 17 expecting her first child Mike. At age 18, she met and married Harry Dennis, Jr. Along with Harry’s children, she then had 4 more children and worked at the Yale Nursing Home as a cook. She raised 2 grandchildren Denise and Shauna. She became widowed at age 53 and then at age 70, she moved to Cleveland to live with Denise and her husband Randall. Being a mother to 12 children, Granny took care of the elderly, Granny loved to read and work puzzles. Along with her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by 1 step-son Claude Dennis.
Survivors include her children; Michael Leon Wheeler, Sheryl Mae Jones, Harry Claude Dennis III, Samuel Lee Dennis all of Yale and Thomas Henry Dennis of Mannford. Maedean Myers of Louisiana, Hobart Dennis, Edward Dennis and Floyd Dennis all of Okemah.
2 brothers; Terry Dale Duren of Bristow and Jerry Gale Duren of Mannford. Over 25 Grandchildren and over 30 great grandchildren.
