
Virginia ChristianVirginia Lee Christian, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home in Cushing, OK at the age of 89 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the First Free Will Baptist Church, Cushing, OK with Reverend Bob Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, OK.
The daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Fisher and Grace (Hutchison) Fisher, Virginia was born on January 11, 1923 in Cushing, OK where she was reared and educated. At the age of five, Virginia's mother preceded her in death. Virginia's father Benjamin later married Emma Cook whom she accepted as her mom.
Virginia was united in marriage to James Everett Christian on February 7, 1942 in Oklahoma City, OK and to this union seven children, Jimmie, Barbara, Darrell, Carol, Daniel, Deborah, and Janet, were born. Virginia loved being a pastor's wife but her passion was caring for her children and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Ray Christian; four daughters, Barbara Kay Hollon, Carol Evon Thompson, Deborah Faye Gregory, and Janet Lee Plumer; three brothers, Leland Fisher, Ronnie Fisher, and Clinton Fisher; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband James, step-mother, Emma (Cook) Fisher; two sons, Darrell Leon Christian and Jimmy Everett Christian; and two brothers, Leonard Fisher and Benny Fisher.
