
Coetta Whitehead Ausbrook Todd, 82, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday afternoon May 12, 2012, at 4:40 pm. She was a life-long resident of Oklahoma until moving to Kokomo, IN, in 2006 after the death of her second husband. Coetta was born October 23, 1929, the youngest of five children to Ruth (Staton) and Hobart Whitehead at their home in Olive, Creek County, OK.
Coetta married Richard Vernon Ausbrook on October 25, 1947, in Oilton, OK. They had three children who now survive their parents: Richard Gregg Ausbrook, Mountain Home, TX; Jeanni Lou (Jim) Buster, Rose, OK: and Rev. Jerry (Wilma) Ausbrook, Kokomo, IN.
Coetta married Elton Ray Todd on November 25, 1971, in Mannford, OK. She is survived by her two step-sons: Billy Ray Todd and Richard Neal Todd, both of Ripley, OK. Coetta's five children gave her ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Coetta graduated from Olive High School in 1947 and returned to school in 1971 to earn her degree from Central Technology Center in Drumright, OK, as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at the hospital in Stillwater, OK, and for several physicians, including Dr. Orville Rippy and Dr. Terry Brown.
After moving to Kokomo, Coetta joined the ladies' prayer shawl ministry at First Church of God. In the past few years that Coetta was unable to go out for the meeting, the ladies took the meeting to her at Golden Living Center at Sycamore Village.
Coetta was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and two siblings: Bill Whitehead and Ruth Lorene Whitehead Lochary. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two siblings: Hobart (Pauline) Whitehead, Jr., of Houma, LA, and Aileen (Birt) Batson of Tulsa, OK.
Coetta chose to be cremated, and Ellers Funeral Home will assist the family with her cremation. Pastor John Newton will lead a memorial service on Wednesday afternoon, May 16, at 3 pm at the First Church of God in Kokomo. Friends may call one hour before the service from 2 to 3 pm.
A second memorial service led by Pastor Gary Krlin will be held at the Cimarron Valley Christ Fellowship on Hwy 99 in Oilton, OK, at 11 am on Saturday morning, May 26. Friends may call on the family one hour before the service from 10 to 11 am. Coetta's final cremains will be buried at the Highland Park Cemetery in Oilton. Palmer Funeral Home will assist the family with the burial arrangements.
