
Willa Mae MurphyWilla Mae "Petty" (Wonderly) Murphy, a longtime Oilton area resident, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the age of 82 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton, OK and will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2012 in the First Baptist Church, 308 West Rogers, Oilton, OK with Pastor Larry Calvert officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Oilton, OK.
The daughter of the late Ralph Wonderly and Edith (Hale) Wonderly, Petty, as she was nicknamed by her father, was born on September 28, 1929 in Kendrick, OK. She was reared and educated in Kendrick, graduating with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Henry Murphy, Jr. on July 13, 1948 in Chandler, OK and to this union three children, Larry, Janie, and Susan were born.
Petty spent her life as a homemaker and raising her children. She loved to make quilts, sew, and cross stitch. Petty also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Henry of the home; three children, Larry Murphy and his wife Kay of Drumright, Janie Robinson and her husband Sammy of Oilton, and Susan Peck and her husband Kevin of Terlton; two sister, Lou Stephens and her husband Howard of Kendrick and Betty Jean Murphy and her husband Pat of Big Springs, TX; three grandchildren, Dillon Murphy, Sarah Dorsey and her husband Cody, and Alison Peck; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Petty was preceded in death by two grandsons, Riley Peck and Adam Peck; two sisters, Billie Burns and her husband Ray and Mildred Crawford and her husband Herald.
