Clinton Red Tornados Hopes Of A Victory...
Photo by Donna JuddClinton's hopes of a victory against the Lions faded as Friday night's match up against the Chandler Lions proved to be too much for the Red Tornados.
For the old men down at the barber shop in Chandler, Friday night was a contest for the ages. Number three ranked Chandler hosted number one ranked Clinton in an intense high school football match up.
The lions scored early in the first quarter as starting quarterback Jack Gray drove down the field and scored during the first series of play. Straying away from their usual I formation, Gray spent most of the night in the shotgun position, with Johnny Morton or Austin Mojor right beside him.
Although Chandler lost six fumbles during the game, Gray rushed for 148 yards and threw for 135 yards, putting the lions ahead on the score board at the end of the third quarter.
Neither team could score again, both battling each others defense in the fourth. The last minutes of the game held the Chandler Lions to victory with a score of 20 - 14 over the Clinton Tornados.
It was the fight to the bitter end that inspired spectators from both sides to stay to the last second of play.
