Horses That Heal and Hearts That Care
Their motto says it all -"Horses that Heal and Hearts that Care."  For several years now, students and volunteers from Right Path Riding Academy have been demonstrating that motto at the Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo.  It is something they all look forward to each year.

It's Good to Be Queen
Cushing High School student Meghan Beede has almost completed her second year as Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo Queen.  Beede first won the title in 2007 and then returned to win it again in 2009.

Last Year Princess, This Year Queen
Last year she was met with tough competition, this year she's riding solo.  Eight-year-old Hailey Lacy is the single contestant in the Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo Queen competition.  But just because she's unopposed, doesn't mean she gets the crown. She still must earn it by selling rodeo tickets.

Cowboys...
The cowboy is in the saddle more than any man on the Plains. He rides what is well known as the cowboy's saddle, or Brazos tree. The line of its seat from cantle to horn, viewed sidewise, is a semicircle; there is no fiat place to sit on. This shape gives the cowboy, seen from the side, all but as perpendicular a seat in the saddle as the old knight in armor.

Award-winning Canadian Valley Rangerettes to Perform
Once again, the two-time United States Equestrian Drill Champions (USEDC) Canadian Valley Rangerettes will be performing at the Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo, July 9th and 10th.

The History of Cowgirls
There are few records mentioning girls or women working to drive cattle up the cattle trails of the Old West. However women did considerable ranch work, and in some cases (especially when the men went to war or on long cattle drives) these women ran the ranches and homesteads.

Trying To Avoid A Cowboy Speeding Ticket
Calf roping, also known as tie-down roping, is a rodeo event that features a calf and a rider mounted on a horse.Timing is critical. From a standstill, a rider will put his horse into a gallop from the box shortly after the calf leaves the chute, so that the horse saves valuable seconds by being at near-full speed the moment the barrier releases.

Inside The Pocket Of A Clown
The primary job of the rodeo clown is to protect a fallen rider from the bull, whether the rider has been bucked off or has jumped off of the animal.

Bull Riding At The Rodeo
Bull riders have a lot less equipment then the competitors in all of the other rodeo events but the event is still rather complex.

Can't Argy With Western Slang
Grab yer self a cup of arbuckle's  and read up on some western slang meanings - yip, that's right, it's rodeo time!

The Voice Returns to Cushing
He's a roper and no doubt wears Wranglers, but for more than a decade now, he is most widely known as the "Voice of PBR" (Pro Bull Riders).  And once again, Justin McKee will be returning to Cushing as "the voice" of the Cushing Community PRCA Rodeo, July 9 and 10, 2010.

Rising Rodeo Star, Zayne Goode
(Cushing, Okla.) Do you remember what you were doing at 11 years old?  Chances are it didn't involve standing on top of two galloping horses - straddling a pole of fire.

Professional Trick-Riding Duo to Perform
(Cushing, Okla.) From Roman-style riding on Brahma bulls to Indian dancing horses, Leon and Vicki Adams have amazed people all over the world!  Their acts have been nominated 20 times in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and have won the honor of Specialty Act of the Year four times.  In July, 2008 Leon and Vicki were both inducted into the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame.
