Jr. Olympics, held at O'Dell Field on the Cushing High School campus, is
an annual event sponsored by Cushing Lions Club. For decades now,
fifth and sixth graders have been given the opportunity to compete in
running, jumping and softball throws because of the commitment by Lions
members to serve.
Cushing High School senior Ashleigh Clouse was recently named
Outstanding Economics Student by the Oklahoma City Branch of the Federal
Reserve Bank of Kansas City and Oklahoma Council on Economic Education
at a ceremony held at the Oklahoma City Branch in downtown Oklahoma
City.
CHS junior Hunter Boykin won the Class 4A 100m dash state title with running a 10.75 100mtime. Boykin will compete at the OTCA Track Meet of Champions on May 14th. Each state champion and runner-up from each Class (6A - A) will compete against one another.
It was emotional to watch these ladies and their coach together again in
what would be one of their last appearances as a family of sorts, at a recent Rotary Club meeting. After
a hard fought season, the CHS Varsity squad battled their way to State Finals only to see the 4A Class title slip through their
fingers.
Wilson Pre-Kindergarten just finished a week full of learning activities
focusing on the arts and physical exercise during their The Week of the
Young Child Celebration. This is an annual celebration sponsored by
the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The
purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on
the needs of young children and their families and to recognize early
childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
For the second time in the 2012-2013 school year, Red Dirt Media Group
donates to the Cushing All Sports Fund. Mike and Joe Kennedy, co-
founders of RDMG are adding another $625 to the $1250 donated following
the success of Tiger Football Live in the fall of 2012.

In the match directly following the Cushing/Harrah game, thus determining who the lady tigers play tomorrow evening at 8 pm, #2 ranked Fort Gibson has defeated #5 ranked Weatherford according to the OSSAA bracket update, Fort Gibson will now play the lady tigers Friday evening in Bethany for the golden ticket to the "Big House", in the final game of the state playoffs on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm for State Championship.

The Cushing boys varsity basketball team played Vinita in Catoosa Friday afternoon - hoping to continue in the Consolation bracket. The Cushing tigers fought a hard core match but in the end, they fell short of continuing in the play offs. The boys varsity squad won against Sequoyah Claremore yesterday afternoon in the Consolation bracket and will play today at 3 pm in Catoosa against Vinita.

CHS basketball squads traveled back to Cushing Saturday night with one win and one loss - lady tigers advance to winners bracket and tigers move to consolation bracket on February 21.
