A benefit dinner, silent auction and concert is slated for this Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Cushing for Korben Meloy.Korben is a 5-year-old boy who attends kindergarten at Harmony Elementary. In October, Korben was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that arises from nerve tissue outside of the central nervous system.
Cushing High School Band Director Danny White was the guest speaker at
Lions Club. Lion Kevin Clouse introduced White saying, "Danny has been
Band Director in Cushing for 23 years. He has been a mentor to my
daughters and is a great influence on a lot of kids."
School menus for the week of Nov. 4, 2013
Cushing Chamber of Commerce held a reception Monday for Business After
School honorees for the months of September and October. Business After
School is a Chamber program that honors Cushing's education community.Each
month one educator, one support staff person and two high school
seniors are honored. A reception is held at 4 p.m. in the Cushing
Chamber of Commerce board room the last Monday of each school month
(with the exception of September and December). Receptions are open to
Wednesday, October 9th is National Walk to School Day. Deep Rock
Elementary, along with other local schools participated by walking
together on a designated path to school this morning. KUSH participated by "walking the walk and talking the talk" with call-ins from Molly Payne to the morning show.
Harrison School students met for prayer at the flag pole Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 in observance of the annual Global Day of Student Prayer.
Students at Cushing High School are joining other students from across
the state in the fight against cancer. They are participating in
Win-Win Week, a statewide initiative aimed at preventing cancer and
raising funds to support Oklahoma cancer patients.
A meeting of the Cushing Quarterback Club will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Steer Inn Restaurant. Concessions, upcoming Hamburger Dinner and new "spirit items" available for sell will be topics at the meeting. The Hamburger Dinner is slated for the first home game of the season, Sept. 13 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the CHS fieldhouse.
Lady Tigers softball team traveled to Oktaha, Oklahoma to participate in a tournament Thursday and Saturday. The team is off to a great start - holding on to a number 8 ranking as of Monday, Aug. 26th. Click on title to read all about how the Lady Tigers fared in the tournament.

tiger softball team opened Tulsa 7 conference play this week with 2 slug fests
and remained undefeated through 9 games, taking on the lady tigers of Cleveland
and the lady pirates of Bristow.
In championship game for the Fall Classic, Kayley
Walters drove the 1st pitch to mid centerfield allowing Carpenter to
beat the throw to home plate scoring the winning run in walk off fashion. Final
score Cushing 3 Drumright 2. Tournament Most Valuble Offensive player award
went to Cushing's sophomore third baseman Kayla Vasquez who batted .786 for the
tourney. Drumright's senior catcher Courtney Stucks won tourney Defensive
Player. The lady tigers record now stands at a lofty 7 and 0 for their best
start in many years.
