Cushing High School senior, Sierra Waggoner was named the winner of the Eskridge Auto Free Ride scholarship on KOCO 5 TV Tuesday night. She won a $25,000 college scholarship and a new Lexus CT Hybrid from Eskridge Auto Group. Sierra's guardian Elese Guyot confirmed she had won and said there will be a special on KOCO 5 TV on May 24th at 6:30 p.m.

Cushing Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in a series of gas drive offs.
A Cushing woman was arraigned Monday on charges of having
methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her property -- while she was
being booked out of the Cushing City Jail for transportation to the
Payne County Jail.

A joint meeting of the boards for the Cushing Hospital Authority, Cushing Industrial Authority, Cushing Municipal Authority and the Cushing Board of Commissioners was held Monday in City Hall. Carey Seigle, Jim Hogrefe, Evert Rossiter and Tommy Johnson made up a quorum. Joe Manning, Jr. was not in attendance.
A Cushing teenager has been jailed on $100,000 bail for allegedly
burglarizing Mac's Quik Lube -- three months after he admitted to
illegally using a truck, attempting to elude police, driving on a
suspended license, drunk driving and beating a man, all in Cushing.
Cushing commissioners will hold a monthly meeting Monday evening at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Agenda items include proclamations regarding Cushing Relay for Life as well as new hose for the Cushing Fire Department and further discussion on medical building property. Commissioners are also expected to complete labor agreements with police and fire unions.

The winner of the 2012 Mother's Day Contest was announced today on the Donna & Molly Show.
Monday's meeting of Payne County Commissioners was an eye-opener to
newly-elected District No. 1 commissioner Zach Cavett when Jim Arthur,
District No. 3 commissioner and Gloria Hesser, District No. 2
commissioner paired up to push through a change in how sales tax revenue
allocated for roads is divided.
An investigation into a burglary that occurred at Mac's Quick
Lube in late April has resulted in the arrest of rural Cushing resident
Jacob Clifford Cushenberry, 20. Police expect to present a charge on
another Cushing resident believed to be involved in the crime.
Payne County letter carriers will help "Stamp Out Hunger" this Saturday, May 12th, by collecting non-perishable food donations. You can help, too, by simply placing items such canned foods, dried beans, peanut butter, etc. in a plastic bag and placing it by your mailbox by 7 a.m.
Governor Fallin today signed into law Senate Bill 1797, a measure that
consolidates existing teacher accountability and preparation entities
into a single Office of Educational Quality and Accountability (EQA) in
order to save taxpayer money while streamlining existing education
accountability initiatives. The initiative was among Governor Fallin's
2012 legislative agenda items.
Three Payne County men -- one of whom lives in Cushing -- have been
charged with kicking open the front door of a rural Glencoe residence
from which guns, a camera collection and tool kits were reportedly
stolen in April.
An ex-convict from Cushing -- who got out of prison less than a year ago
-- was arraigned Tuesday with his two co-defendants on multiple drug
counts including trafficking in methamphetamine.
Three young men from Cushing - one of whom was just released from state
prison in March -- have been charged together with breaking into a shed
in the 1100 block of E. Pecan Street where $8,160 worth of property was
reportedly stolen.
Cushing Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to re-appoint Evert Rossiter and Joe Manning, Jr. as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board.
While the Grand River Dam Authority is moving ahead with plans to purchase a
Tulsa office building, the organization has no plans to leave Pryor, says GRDA
Chief Executive Officer Dan Sullivan.

A Cushing man charged in connection with the beating death of a Cushing
woman has been bound over for trial on a First Degree Murder Charge.
An ex-convict from Cushing -- who has been out of prison for less than
two years -- was charged Tuesday with concealing an I-phone on April 17
that had been stolen 10 months earlier.
A Cushing teenager was charged Monday with breaking into two cars on East Main Street in Cushing on Sunday.
Tevin Chrisp, 18, was arraigned Monday on two felony counts of
second-degree burglary before Special District Judge Katherine Thomas,
who set his bail at $7,500.

An early morning traffic stop (Tuesday) by Cushing police officer Matthew Piatt
has lead to the arrest of two Cushing residents. Arrested were Timothy
Scott Murrell, Jr., 29, and Julie Renee Haikey, 21. Both were arrested
on numerous drug charges.
Tuesday morning, Cushing police were made aware of two instances where
senior citizens have been the target of unsolicited telephone calls to
their home asking questions that could lead to them being scammed.
The 61st Annual National Day of Prayer will be observed in Cushing at a
Cushing Prayer Breakfast held at 7 a.m. at the Cushing Christian Church,
located at 302 S. Linwood, this Thursday, May 3rd. This is the 16th
year for Cushing to hold such an observance.
