Lion of the Day Fred Caudle seemed especially proud to introduce his guest speakers - Bonnie Reber and Stacey Adams.  "I can honestly say I've known Bonnie all of her life," Caudle said.  Reber is the daughter of Fred and Ann Caudle and Adams is her partner in a foundation they founded: Books for All Foundation.

A Cushing man has been ordered to appear in court Friday for arraignment on a charge of knowingly concealing stolen pump barrels, valued at $28,603, from Arrow Pump and Supply in Cushing.

Marine from Drumright Admits Forcing Injured Passengers Out of Car After Hitting a Tree


A Drumright man -- who is being held in the Payne County Jail for the U.S. Marine Corps -- pleaded guilty Friday to forcing his three injured passengers out of his car after he hit a tree while driving 100 mph on a gravel road in the Stillwater area on a suspended license.

Local Legislators Preparing for New Session


Senator Jim Halligan and Rep. Lee Denney gave a brief overview of the upcoming legislative session at a Legislative Luncheon held at the Cushing Country Club.  Governor Mary Fallin will open the 2012 session with a State of Address on Feb. 6th at noon.

Former Cushing Walmart Employee Accused of Stealing 1,000 Prescription Pills & $1,000 Cash


A former Cushing Walmart pharmacy employee has been charged with stealing about 1,000 pills of the prescription painkilling drug, hydrocodone, and about $1,000 in cash from the store during a three-month period.

President Barack Obama announced he would reject TransCanada's application for a permit to construct the 1700 Mile Keystone XL Pipeline, accepting a recommendation from the U.S. State Department.

Joe Manning to File for Re-Election for Seat #2 on the Cushing City Commission


Joe Manning has announced that he will file for re-election for Seat #2 on the Cushing City Commission.  Manning stated:     "It has been an honor to represent the Citizens of Cushing as a member of the City Commission for a period of 14 years.  I have assisted with leadership in such areas as water, wastewater, electric, medical services, investments, budgeting and public safety.

Although there weren't any real surprises at Monday's monthly meeting of the Cushing Board of Commissioners, Cushing Municipal Authority or special meetings of the Cushing Industrial Authority and Cushing Hospital Authority Boards of Trustees, the evening did start with the presentation of a proclamation by Mayor Evert Rossiter proclaiming February 13, 2012 "Lawrence D. Pippenger Day in Cushing."

The City of Cushing is alerting residents about a company that has been sending advertisements to residents by mail. A company called "HomeServe USA" has been mailing advertisements to utility customers in Cushing, saying they can provide water line insurance.

A Cushing man has been charged with breaking into a car parked at a Maveric Mini Mart on Main Street in Cushing -- while he was on probation for concealing stolen property in Stroud.

Proposed Meth Ordinance Opens More Dialogue Between City and Property Owners


Between 25 and 30 Cushing property owners and citizens gathered Thursday for the opportunity to learn more about a proposed meth ordinance.  A committee was appointed by City Manager Steve Spears after questions were raised during the first proposal of the ordinance.  It is comprised of Iris Hudgins, Joy Wattenburger, Ray Choate, Joe Manning, Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon and Cushing Fire Chief Brent Kerr.
